I wanted to announce that I'm officially an employee of the Safe Children Coalition, a social service agency under the YMCA today! I'm working at the Y-M-C-A...ok had to get that out haha. Comes with its perks- we now have a free membership to all the Y's in the area so hey- working out is now free! Here's the website to the Safe Children Coalition for more information: Foster a Child!
I have just completed orientation today and will start in a couple of weeks. Putting in my two weeks notice at Healthy Families has been emotionally draining, having to transition my clients to new FSW's, saying good byes (which I'm horrible at) and crying every night. I've been meeting with some of these families for almost a year, some people on a weekly basis. We've shared so much about life it seems like leaving an old friend. I pray each night that they see the value of our program and don't become discouraged by this transition. I feel responsible for people's lives...I know I can't do that, that I'm putting too much on myself but when you work with people its always complicated. My heart is hurting. But change always excites me...I'm really looking forward to working with foster children, providing support to foster parents, and spreading the info about foster care. There is so much work to be done to our foster care system...but don't get me started. I just picked up a book recently and its incredibly informative, though heart wrenching as it gives a voice to a few foster children- Orphan's of the Living (Here's a short review). While the book is difficult to read, as the stories of the children living in the foster care system are not simple by any means, it does open your eyes to a new world.

Yeah for a new job! And praise the Lord that you were able to impact so many people at your old job. I know He will continue to use you in new ways. Love you! Try not to cry tonight though......JUST KIDDING!
