So as some of you already know, on our visit back to Arkansas David and I did a walk on campus to see if his name happened to be on the University of Arkansas' senior walk. We were half expecting to see it and then just happened upon it! Before we saw David's I went back to see my mother's between the student union and the library ( a pretty popular spot). So David was totally suprised to see his name there. It was also funny because he was just steps away from an old friend, Marietta Shadrach. It was such an odd experience I think. Although I've always dreamed of my name being there, at the same campus as my mom, my husband, I can't really imagine it ever will be there. Its like we all have worked so hard to get a peice of paper, our diploma, its weird to even think anything will ever come of college. Ok, my experience was rather...different, but still, it was so cool to see David's name on the pavement. To know the hours he spent in studio, the times we spent together studying in the library thinking we'll never finish our work, stressing about projects, tests, papers... And then, one rainy December evening...we randomly happen to see "David R. Schmidt" engraved in the sidewalk between the science and engineering buildings. The last two pictures are of my mother's name, its kind of hard to see because the cement is worn down. The others are of David! :)
